In devised performance, the writing, spoken word, sound, music, objects, materials, architecture and design converge to inform an innovative style of story-telling.

This program is geared towards unlocking the fundamentals of group devised performance and ensemble collaboration. Encouraging students to become original writers, they will learn to search for dramatic themes, identify performance styles and create a physical language of their own. Students will also explore the ingenious world of objects and materials revealing innovative and visual approaches to developing narrative.

2. Unmasking theatre of movement

The Neutral Mask requires us to rest our busy minds and refocus our energy both into the body and the encompassing space.

This program introduces renowned theatre practitioner Jacques Lecoq’s® physical approaches to theatre and performance through an in depth investigation of the Neutral Mask. Students will also experience practical examples of Lecoq's® Mimodynamic technique and develop the tools to create presence in the body achieving an enhanced understanding of physical awareness, coordination and openness in space.

3. bouffon & the fantastical

Sparked by Lecoq’s® provocation ‘people who believe in nothing and make fun of everything’,
bouffons emerge from the night, the heavens, the gutters, in a procession to the beat of drums
to share with us the truths and secrets of an all-telling mirror. 

Discover the limitless boundaries of the grotesque, the art of mockery
and satire and the importance of ensemble-based research.
Students will engage with the bizarre and fantastical through the creation
of the bouffon as the ultimate 'soothsayer' in a contemporary setting
and experience the whole body as a mask through which
they can tell profound truths of our society.

  • The cost of a program starts at $750 inclusive of one facilitator with a maximum of 40 students. Programs include all learning resources.
